Arboretum – a botanic garden that was founded by Kovacevic family is a natural monument. Arboretum was started by belated general Vojo Kovacevic around his own home. By bringing plants from all continents he tried to grow them in mild continental climate at 750 meters elevation above sea level, where the Mediterranean makes the continental climate less extreme. The locals claim that general Vojo, after deciding to turn the family estate into a botanic garden, while planting each tree said: “You should grow so that we can be proud of you!” And the trees grew. There are around 250 seedlings per hectare containing 150 autochthonous and allochthonous species of trees, bushes and lianas.
